Octopus Electric Vehicles has teamed up with UK Power Networks and G99 Professional Services to introduce a new device that will make vehicle-to-grid (V2G) charging more accessible in the UK.

The new device, called the Powerlimit, is designed to let V2G technology work seamlessly with household solar panels or batteries. By sitting between the charger, energy asset, and smart meter, it maximizes network capacity and allows more renewable energy to be connected to the grid.

“Not only is this a first for the UK consumer market, but it also paves the way for homes to help balance the grid faster than ever before,” said Claire Miller, director of technology and innovation at Octopus Electric Vehicles.

Miller explained that the Powerlimit will enable customers to export energy from their homes even in areas with grid restrictions, helping to create a greener and more stable energy network.
